Here's a few tips on how to painlessly acquire the NBI Clearance(via the Quezon City office), the
NSO-issued Certified True Copy Of Certificate of Live Birth, and the NSO-issued Certificate of
Single Status:
To FILE for the said certificates, arrive at the NBI (Kalayaan Ave., QC) & NSO (East Ave, QC) offices
between 3:30 and 4:30pm, when these offices are the least busy. You can finish filing for all three within
2 hours.
To COLLECT, be at the NBI office the same time as above. But for the NSO office, be there as early as
7:30 am (the lines/crowds are horrific from 10 am to 5 pm -- but weirdly enough, NSO is open until 10 pm).
NOTES:
1.) Collect your documents only one to three days after the they say you can -- these offices are rarely on time.
2.) There are 2 NSO offices. filed at the East Ave office, and pick up from NSO-EDSA one.
Here's a mini timetable, with prices in peso, for reference:
1.) NBI Clearance (P55.00) - filed 7/20/99 - collected 8/9/99
2.) NSO Cert. of Live birth (P20.00 each. Get two or three copies!) - filed 7/20/99 - collected 7/27/99
3.) NSO Cert. of Single Status (P40.00 each) - filed 7/20/99 - to be collected 8/18/99*
*The clerk may explained that you may have to wait nearly a month because of a common surname,
otherwise, processing takes only 2 weeks.
